Who operates Hydro Athlete?

Using the app without an account

Hydro Athlete works without an account. Your hydration logs, goals, history, reminders, profile details, and focus areas stay on your phone and are never uploaded. The only exceptions are the AI and weather features, which send the information described below when you use them, with or without an account. Settings → Delete all data erases them; deleting the app does too.

Your optional account

If you create an account, we store your email address, date of birth, and display name. Supabase Auth handles your password; we never see it. Your date of birth is used only for age rules: social handles require age 18 or older, and youth teams never show handles.

Supabase provides our database, authentication, and file storage. Account data is stored in the United States.

Optional profile details

You can add your sport, positions, training mode, About me, social handles, and a profile photo. About me is limited to 280 characters and cannot contain links. Social handles are available only on adult teams for people 18 or older.

Photos are resized to 256 × 256 pixels, with metadata removed, and stored privately. Only teammates and your coach can see your photo. A coach can remove it.

Teams and readiness sharing

We store your team membership and role, captain flag, invite codes, and team schedules written by the coach.

Readiness sharing is optional and controlled in Settings. If enabled, we share one daily category — green, yellow, or red — and the date. We never share ounces, individual entries, or goals with your team. Teammates and your coach see only the color.

Reports and blocks

When you report a teammate, we store who reported whom, the reason, and your note. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Blocks are stored so that content stays hidden for you.

If an account is deleted, its reports remain without that account's identity.

AI features

To generate advice, the app sends the information needed to our server. The server forwards it to Anthropic, our AI provider, and returns the answer.

The Workout Builder uses sport, positions, intensity, duration, and focus areas. The Hydration Coach uses sport, position, today's session, weather band, today's total intake, daily goal, and streak days. Weekly insight uses weekly summary figures, such as days the goal was met.

We don't keep these requests. Our hosting provider, Netlify, retains server logs for a short period; they record request metadata such as timestamps, status, sizes, and the IP address used for rate limiting (Upstash), and never your hydration numbers or the advice text.

Weather and location

Only with your consent, your phone's location is sent to Open-Meteo for the forecast and BigDataCloud for the city name. We don't store your location. The app keeps your most recent location on your phone so it can refresh the weather; that copy is never sent to us. You can turn weather location access off anytime.

Notifications

When push notifications are enabled in a future version, a device push token is stored so reminders can be sent. It is removed when you turn reminders off or delete your account.

Beta testing and email

Apple TestFlight shares crash reports, session counts, and feedback you send with us. Account emails, including confirmation and password-reset messages, are sent through Resend.

No advertising or analytics

We have no ads, do not sell your data, and do not use analytics SDKs.

Children and youth teams

Hydro Athlete is for people 13 and older. Accounts for children under 13 are not permitted. Youth teams do not show social handles, and coaches moderate photos and About me.

Your choices

Delete your account in Settings to remove your profile, memberships, shared readiness, photo, and blocks. Reports remain without your identity. You can turn readiness sharing, weather, and reminders off anytime.
